About Us
Advanced Radiology Services, P.C.
Advanced Radiology Services, P.C. formed when the two independent radiology practices servicing Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals merged in 1997. In January 2001, Advanced Radiology Services also acquired the radiology practice servicing Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids.
In April 2003, Advanced Radiology Services merged with Kalamazoo Radiology, P.C., now a division of Advanced Radiology Services. Kalamazoo Radiology is one of the oldest radiology practices in the United States, having served the patients and hospitals of Southwest Michigan since 1897. On July 1, 2005, Advanced Radiology Services merged with Grand Valley Radiology, now a division of Advanced Radiology Services. The Grand Valley division provides services in Greenville and the lakeshore communities. Combined, the three divisions serve seven major healthcare systems throughout the greater West Michigan area.
This growth has effectively created one of the largest and, thanks to the caliber of our radiologists, most respected private radiology practices in Michigan. Our focus on subspecialization enables us to provide strong leadership at the cutting-edge of the profession. As a large practice, we are better able to attract highly skilled radiologists, enabling us to provide quality subspecialization radiology services across West Michigan.
State-of-the-Art Imaging Centers
On June 1, 2004, Kalamazoo Radiology entered into a joint venture with Bronson Healthcare Group. This joint venture owns and operates Bronson Advanced Radiology Services, a free-standing medical imaging center in downtown Kalamazoo. Bronson Advanced Radiology Services offers patients timely access to Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Mammography, Ultrasound, and DexaScan.
In November 2004, Advanced Radiology Services celebrated the opening of two new state-of-the-art imaging centers in Grand Rapids: PET Medical Imaging Center and Advanced Outpatient Imaging. PET Medical Imaging Center, a joint venture of Spectrum Health and Saint Mary’s Health Care in collaboration with Advanced Radiology Services and Kent Radiology, offers the area’s first and only fixed Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner. This technology is critical in the early detection of cancer and other diseases.
Advanced Outpatient Imaging, a Spectrum Health facility in collaboration with Advanced Radiology Services, PC, has two convenient locations within minutes of major highways. Advanced Outpatient Imaging on North Evergreen Drive offers Computed Tomography (CT) and the area’s first Open Magnetic Resonance (MRI) scanner. The open MRI is ideal for larger patients or those who are claustrophobic. Advanced Outpatient Imaging on Kenmoor Avenue is conveniently located at one of the area’s Hematology/Oncology offices and offers Computed Tomography (CT). Advanced Radiology Services manages the day-to-day operations of both imaging centers.

Choosing Advanced Radiology Services, P.C.
Radiology is one of the most dynamic fields in medicine, with new technologies and techniques being introduced faster than ever before. That is why you want to be sure that the radiologist interpreting your radiology exam is a highly trained and specialized medical professional.
Many people believe that their doctor interprets the images created by a radiology exam. This typically is not the case. When your doctor orders a radiology exam, images or pictures of your body will be produced. A radiologist will interpret these images and provide a written report to your doctor, who in turn will discuss the results with you. Since the report will likely influence the healthcare you will receive, it is important to have an experienced, board-certified radiologist interpret your medical images. All of our radiologists are board-certified by the American Board of Radiology or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology and many have participated in a Fellowship program for additional training and/or have obtained a Certificate of Added Qualification in a given sub-specialty.
Where your doctor sends you for your radiology examination will likely determine who will interpret your images and prepare the report for your doctor. Advanced Radiology Services provides services at multiple locations across West Michigan. If you want the confidence of knowing that one of our radiologists will read and interpret your medical images, ask your doctor to send you to one of locations served by Advanced Radiology Services.
