Your safety is our top priority in every exam we perform.
We follow the recommendations of the American College of Radiology (ACR) for training, skills, and techniques that keep imaging safe and effective. Every exam is chosen and performed with the lowest possible risk and the greatest benefit in mind.
MRI Safety
- MRI uses no ionizing radiation. Safety depends on any implants, devices, or past injuries involving metal. Please bring any implant/device cards to your appointment so our team can confirm MRI safety.
Pregnancy & Breastfeeding
- We take extra care when imaging during pregnancy and only proceed when the benefits outweigh the risks. If contrast is needed, we follow national guidelines (ACR/ACOG). In most cases, breastfeeding does not need to be interrupted after contrast.
Contrast Safety
- Contrast is only used when it will improve the accuracy of your exam. Some patients may need a kidney function check beforehand. Most side effects are mild; serious reactions are rare.
Pediatric Imaging
- For children, we follow Image Gently® principles—tailoring each scan to use the lowest dose possible and using alternatives like ultrasound or MRI whenever appropriate.
Adult Imaging
- We support Image Wisely® and follow the ACR Appropriateness Criteria to ensure exams are truly necessary and doses are tailored to each patient.
Interventional Radiology & Nuclear Medicine
- These specialties use small amounts of radiation, with careful monitoring and built-in safety precautions.
